We have windows!
The windows started going in today. The stacking doors are coming tomorrow. It's now really coming together.

We're getting there.. Slowly!
Well the frames for the roof went up today. The house is taking ages but we're hoping things will start to move a bit quicker now. Winter is on its way and Chris is desperate for the roof to be finished before the rains come!

The timber poles to support the house came yesterday and are going in already after a week or two delay in getting them. They also cleared the entrance to our plot from the road today so we've now got a sandy driveway! They've also started on our extremely wide braai and storage shed underneath.
It's now starting to look like a house especially now the driveway is cleared and we're getting very excited! Looking forward to the next floor starting now..

Well the bricks are now nearly finished. The garage is much higher than we thought it was going to be which is good as hopefully we'll get a better view from the top floor than we anticipated.
Once the brickwork is finished the next floor of timber will begin. It's very strange standing in the garage and looking out but it's now starting to feel like a house.

House Build -The Beginning
They started clearing the plot 24th Jan 2012. The foundations have been dug and bricks delivered but can't actually start to lay them till next week now, till the planning inspector has been again to have a look.
The house will be 3 floors. On the ground floor will be a double garage, laundry room and small gym (so we can work on Chris's belly!). The first floor will have an outside wooden staircase going up from the garage door to a deck and braai area leading into the open plan living area, 2 bedrooms, bathroom and a staircase going up into the master bedroom in the attic. Upstairs will be an ensuite and one large bedroom with a small deck looking down at the view (hopefully with Jeffreys Bay in the distance!)
The basement will be brick and the other 2 floors will be log.
So excited now we can't wait. We reckon about 4 months to build so realistically I'm thinking beginning of June and hopefully not after the end of that month!
